Nurse Anesthetist James Steen

Anesthetist Helps Sick In Africa

She traveled by foot for miles, looking for the "white doctors" who could help her. She found help aboard the Africa Mercy, a private floating hospital where volunteer medical workers provide free care.

Serving the needy in Sierra Leone

“I went on a mission trip to India in 2007 with people from my church,” says Sandy Panomarenko, a nurse from Canning Vale in Australia, “and that was very eye opening to learn what life is like for people in the poorer nations of the world.” “Then I heard on Sonshine FM 98.5 about the work being done by volunteers who serve with Mercy Ships. After learning more about the charity I became convinced it was something I should be involved in and use my nursing skills to help,”

A Salt Lake surgeon has just returned to work after taking a month off aboard a ship on the coast of Africa. But Dr. Peter Stevens was not on a pleasure cruise.
