Mercy Ships Denmark Announces New National Director
The board of Mercy Ships Denmark is pleased to announce the confirmation of Jens-Erik Engelbrecht
as National Director Mercy Ships Denmark effective immediately.
Jens-Erik has served as a board member for Mercy Ships Denmark since 2003 and has been into contact with Mercy Ships for many years. He has been co-founder of a church and held a leadership position there for many years. During this period, this church sent many young people to missions and to Mercy Ships.
Jens-Erik holds a degree as Metallurgist (civil engineering), and for much of his career has worked in general management as a businessman in production, aviation and real estate. Upon his professional retirement last year Jens-Erik made himself available to the Danish board to help build up Mercy Ships Denmark.
The new Danish office was re-opened in February 2010, for the time being in Jens-Erik’s home. In addition to board leadership under Preben Bredesgaard, the daily work is supported by an office manager (Vibeke Hoegenhaug) and a person responsible for recruitment of Danish staff to Africa Mercy (Anna Holst Pahus). There are plans to add marketing and fundraising staff.
“It is my hope that we can build up a solid and dedicated organization here in Denmark, obtain all the needed approvals, and begin to raise the level of support to the ship this next year,” says Jens-Erik.
Jens-Erik is married to Grete and they have 1 son, 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren (+ 2 more to come!).
Please join me in welcoming him to his new role within Mercy Ships.
