For several years Peter and Dara harbored an interest in Mercy Ships after hearing about the work through a surgeon who had served on board the hospital ship, Anastasis. In 2006, following the Lord's leading, they attended the Introduction to Mercy Ships course. It quickly became clear that God had called them to Mercy Ships. They went home, Peter quit his job at the fire department, the family sold their home and attended the Gateway training course, preparing them for long-term service. Upon completion, Peter worked for nine months as Assistant Safety Manager in Marine Operations at the Mercy Ships International Operations Center (IOC). They were subsequently offered positions on the Africa Mercy. Peter serves as Chief Steward, involving responsibility for Food Services, Crew Services, and Hospitality. In July of 2008 Dara gave birth to their fourth child, Xavier. She also works as the ship's Nursery school teacher. We thank you for your faithful support.
