The Clan in Liberia 2008 Mercy Ships delivers free, world-class healthcare services to the forgotten poor in developing nations. More than 1,500 crew members from around the globe serve annually. Each one volunteers his/her services to help fulfill the mission of Mercy Ships. Rob is one of 5 members of the Cairncross Clan currently serving/living onboard the M/V Africa Mercy. We have been with Mercy Ships for a total of 8 years; 1994-1996; 2003-present. Rob is the Staff Purser onboard the M/V Africa Mercy a position he has held for over 4 years (with a 6 months spell as Purser on the M/V Anastasis in 2006). He looks after all the immigration and customs procedures for the crew and ship as well as ensuring all emergency and crew lists are always up to date. He also runs the reception department onboard. Robs wife Anne works in Human Resources as Crew Care Coordinator - ensuring that all new crew get a warm welcome and that departing crew get the chance to be debriefed and are prepared for re-integration into their home culture. Rachel -Elise, Iona and Nathaniel complete the clan and enjoy serving as part of the multi-national crew as students in the onboard academy. Check out our latest news here Our Blog or Email us at |
