Costs and Finances
FinACE: Overview
As a crew member with Mercy Ships you will be responsible for paying all costs associated with your service: passports, immunizations, travel, crew fees (room and board), and personal expenses. This allows Mercy Ships to use the funds it raises for life transforming programs that benefit the poorest of the poor.
Crew members typically fund their service with Mercy Ships by:
▫ Raising support through donors such as churches, friends, family, etc;
▫ Using money they have saved specifically for their time with Mercy Ships; or
▫ Relying on funding from a retirement or pension account.
Mercy Ships also requires all crew to have adequate insurance coverage for their time with us. Emergency evacuation and repatriation insurance is included in the fees for short-term crew. Long-term crew are required to obtain their own medical, as well as evacuation and repatriation insurance.
FinACE, Financial Accountability, Coaching and Encouragement, is the area of Mercy Ships Chaplaincy that concentrates on the financial health of all crew. For those who are accepted to serve with Mercy Ships, the FinACE Department, will work with you to develop your budget and assess the appropriate approach to funding your service.
