Your Adventure Begins

Congratulations on taking your first steps towards a new adventure with God in Mercy Ships. The Mercy Ships New Zealand staff members are ready to help you with the details of your grand adventure that are uniquely Kiwi. We have all served on board, and are excited that you may be a part of bringing hope and healing to the poorest of the poor through this amazing ministry.

The HR department in Texas handles all applications internationally, and has the Big Picture and final say about acceptance and timing. One of our roles as a national Mercy Ships office is to facilitate New Zealand applicants like you who dare to step out of the ordinary. Once you receive notice of acceptance, we urge you to call us so we can help with the following:

•    Fundraising and receipting questions
•    Materials and resources to help you prepare presentations for colleagues, churches, service groups and family, to promote your work with Mercy Ships.

We would love to hear from you as you prepare to leave. If you have any questions while you wait to hear from our HR department, please call or email:

Other Particularly Useful Information for Kiwis

Travel
As you make inquiries about the route to travel to that best suites you, please be aware that despite the Brussels Airlines discount mentioned in your acceptance packet (which requires you make connections through Brussels), the cheapest route to travel may be through Dubai, Dakar, or another city. Your travel agent can compare these for you. Try and arrive at the earliest date given to you by HR so you have time to get over jet-lag. Your first work day will be a busy one including several orientations.
