Costs and Finances
FinACE: United Kingdom
Although your application will be processed at Mercy Ships’ International Operations Center in Texas, USA the UK office can answer any questions you have about:
- Processing crew support
- The Gift Aid scheme and how it affects crew support
- Financial and other arrangements on the Africa Mercy
- Any other questions which you may have – if we don’t know the answer immediately we will try to find it out for you!
We can also help with any fundraising you might be doing, including providing you with specific donation and sponsor forms and other literature.
Why have support processed by the UK office? Providing certain requirements are met gifts can be made under the Gift Aid Scheme, thereby increasing their value. The UK office is also accountable for all gifts which it processes, providing assurance for both donors and volunteers.
If you are a volunteer serving for over four weeks and are raising support you will be allocated a crew support number (designation code). You can also choose whether to have any support paid out by the International Operations Center or by the UK office – you will need to contact us here in the UK office to make the necessary arrangements for the latter.
If you are a volunteer serving for four weeks or less and are raising support you can still take advantage of the benefits that are enjoyed by longer term volunteers as the UK office operates a short term crew support account. Please contact us for further information.
If you are a long term volunteer you may like to consider protecting your National Insurance position by paying reduced Volunteer Development Worker contributions. The UK office will make the necessary arrangements with HM Revenue & Customs on your behalf. Please contact us for further information.
Please contact the UK Finance Manager, Marian Adams, for any information on financial matters, including Gift Aid. She can be contacted by email at marian.adams@mercyships.org.uk or by phone on 01438 347499. For other information please contact us at info@mercyships.org.uk or phone 01438 727800.
We look forward to hearing from you and thank you for serving with Mercy Ships!
