South of Tanzania and to the east of Zambia, on the southeast corner of Africa, you will find the country of Mozambique. Angie Wheeler, a nurse who came to Africa to help start clinics, founded Beacon of Hope to provide a transition house to help young men advance their education and use the gifts that God has provided to enrich their families and community. She uses the model of Jesus as a way to illuminate these gifts and give them hope for the future.

Mercy Teams will be partnering with this ministry through Work and Service teams to help further Angie’s vision and goals. Teams will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with young men, teaching them life skills so they can raise healthy families, and job skills so they can support those families. You might also help repair the roof, paint the house,lay tiles, or do some mechanic work. Another possibility is participating in a Vacation Bible School or sports program inthe outlying community. We need you to make a difference … come join us! Accommodations will be dorm-style housing.
