Ophthalmic Technician II – Ship.

The Ophthalmic Technician II-Ship provides consistency of care for the field and tech teams. This position also provides overall leadership for both teams in the absence of a long-term ophthalmic surgeon. This position is responsible for screening surgical candidates, providing pre- and post-operative care, and the diagnosis/treatment of ophthalmic eye problems within the scope of licensure. Long –term commitment (2 years) required. Filled by a Licensed Optometrist (Therapeutics Certified) or Medical Ophthalmologist. If optometry license is other than U.S., then individual must be certified to treat ophthalmic pathology. Certification must be equivalent to U.S. certification. Position open now - June 2, 2012 and then starting again on June 9, 2012 and onwards.

Role may vary depending upon needs and schedule, but includes coordination of the eye tech team, pre-operative assessment of ophthalmic patients, education of ophthalmic patients, and post-surgical follow-up. The position is ship-based usually working in the dockside unit. Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with active licensure; 1 year Ophthalmic experience preferred. Recent clinical experience, ophthalmic nursing experience preferred. Minimum entire field service commitment. Available on June 09, 2012 for at least a year.

Ophthalmic Technician I - Field

Provides consistency of care and participates as part of the Ophthalmic Field Team and is responsible for screening surgical candidates, assessing post-operative patients, and treating minor ophthalmic eye problems. This team works in community-based clinics at least four days each week. Minimum entire field service commitment required. Minimum requirement: Certified Ophthalmic Technician/Nurse. This position can also be filled by: Therapeutically Licensed Optometrist or Medical Ophthalmologist. Available February 19 - April 7 and then again on June 9, 2012 for a year.

Ophthalmic Field Team Coordinator

Coordinate the daily operations of the mobile ophthalmic team responsible for screening, treatment, and referrals of ophthalmic surgical and medical patients. Physical Therapist

Provide high quality rehabilitation services for pre- & post-operative surgical patients and crew. Direct patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance; facilitate the learning of skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity, diminish or correct pathology, and promote and maintain health. This position is based on dockside and/or community. Three month minimum time commitment. Registered Physical Therapist with at least two years of experience. Experience with surgical patients preferred, including burn reconstruction, as well as experience in musculoskeletal outpatients. Available August 26, 2012.
Orthopaedic Care Coordinator

Ophthalmic Technician I-Ship

Eye Team Operations Assistant

Provides support in the form of medical review, scheduling, and data entry of the eye patients that have been accepted to surgery. Applicant needs to be licensed RN/LPN, or paramedic/EMT familiar and comfortable with doing basic physical assessment. Strong organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with Access Database. Ability to work with a translator. Available June 09, 2012 and one year commitment required.
Ophthalmic Team Leader

The Ophthalmic Team Leader oversees the administrative aspects of the Eye Team. This role is responsible for the smooth running of both the Field & Tech Teams. In addition the Ophthalmic Team Leader supports the OR Ophthalmic Team Leader where needed for procurement or equipment concerns. Previous experience in an administrative setting is required. Hand Therapist (PT or OT)

Provide a specialist rehabilitation service for post-operative plastic surgery patients (children & adults) following burns contracture release and correction of congenital deformities. Work closely as a team with both the Plastic Surgeon and Plastics Dressings Nurse to optimize the patient’s outcome of surgery. This will involve pre-operative and post-operative assessment of patients, to include both objective and functional hand assessment, treatment planning and functional rehabilitation. The position will be based both on the ward and in an out-patient setting. Three month minimum commitment (4 weeks commitment is exceptional skills). Registered & Licensed Occupational Therapist or Physical Therapist with a minimum of two years experience and at least one year recent working with complex hand trauma and static splinting is required. Burns and paediatric experience a great advantage. Also required is evidence of post-qualification experience/ certification in hand therapy. Available August 26, 2012 and onwards.
Ophthalmic Nurse: Day of Surgery
