The Ophthalmic Technician II-Ship provides consistency of care for the field and tech teams. This position also provides overall leadership for both teams in the absence of a long-term ophthalmic surgeon. This position is responsible for screening surgical candidates, providing pre- and post-operative care, and the diagnosis/treatment of ophthalmic eye problems within the scope of licensure. Long –term commitment (2 years) required. Filled by a Licensed Optometrist (Therapeutics Certified) or Medical Ophthalmologist. If optometry license is other than U.S., then individual must be certified to treat ophthalmic pathology. Certification must be equivalent to U.S. certification.
