Change the World, One Heart at a Time

If you’re looking to make a difference in the world, all it takes is to get creative, get involved and contribute. Mercy Ships lives out this example — as a nonprofit organization that brings hope and healing to the world.

Mercy Ships uses hospital ships to provide life-changing surgeries to people in places with no access to the medical care they desperately need. Our mission is powered by the love of everyone involved. Volunteer. Donors. People like you who want to make an impact for good.  Together we save and transform lives.

Powered by Volunteers

Nearly everyone onboard our ship is a volunteer — from the doctors and nurses to the cooks, mechanics, teachers and even our barista. Meet a few Mercy Ships volunteers below.

“What you’ll come to realize is when you serve others, when you volunteer even a little bit, your life will be blessed.”

Why a ship?

Since over 50% of the world’s population lives near a coast, hospital ships are the best way to reach them.

In regions where resources are scarce, state-of-the-art hospital ships are the most efficient way to deliver free surgeries.

Our ships are equipped to heal and built to train — so that we leave improved healthcare capability in each nation we visit.

How can love transform a life?

Ulrich’s medical condition left his legs severely bent. With no medical or surgical options, Ulrich’s future included being gawked at, teased, and ridiculed, a fate no child deserves. Then Mercy Ships gave him the free surgery that changed his life forever.

After both legs were straightened, the healing process began. The day his casts were removed, Ulrich stood up on his own, walked toward his Mercy Ships surgeon, and handed him the wooden walking sticks. He wouldn’t need them anymore. There wasn’t a dry eye in the place.

You can be a part of transforming lives like Ulrich’s.
