For the third year running, Informa Markets has selected Mercy Ships as the official charitable partner for Seatrade Cruise Virtual, an event for the global cruise community which will be held virtually from Oct 5th – 8th. 13,000 attendees from the cruise and shipping industry are expected to attend, representing more than 80 cruise lines and hundreds of suppliers.

It would be an understatement to say that this year has been the most challenging year in the history of cruising. It will be vital for the industry to come together at Seatrade Cruise Virtual to innovate, collaborate and plan for the return of cruising in this new environment while making a positive impact in this world through their joint support of Mercy Ships.  As the official charitable partner for the event, Mercy Ships is looking to build new partnerships that will help us to deliver free, life-changing surgeries and programs in sub-Saharan Africa.

Since the outset of our partnership with Seatrade over 3 years ago, Mercy Ships has been very grateful for the growing support from companies within the cruise and maritime industry!

The goal in partnering with cruise lines and suppliers to the maritime industry at Seatrade Cruise Virtual is twofold. Mercy Ships wants to help companies achieve their goals in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility, while also increasing support for our programs. Earlier this year, Mercy Ships launched our new PartnerSHIPS Program, which helps us tailor corporate engagement to meet the needs of each partner. The PartnerSHIPS Program allows us the opportunity to build employee engagement programs, cause marketing/co-branding initiatives, as well as product and funding support programs that will allow us to serve more people in the future and together, make a lasting impact in the lives of some of the most vulnerable people on earth.

At the same time of this event, on Oct 6th, Mercy Ships will be making a “Big Splash” announcement around the world announcing our new hospital ship (close to completion), which will be the world’s first and largest custom-built, non-governmental hospital ship. When it deploys, this new ship will serve the continent of Africa alongside our other ship, the Africa Mercy, more than doubling our impact through surgical, medical training, and development programs.  Many members of the cruise and maritime industry have followed the progress of this new build very closely, and we invite you to join us as we embark on an exciting season of launching the ship into service.
